Hello Beloved Readers,
This is not a channeled message, but rather a very important message about why figuring out your animals totems is so important to further understanding who you are. Once you move past your deeper connection to yourself, totems can further connect you to nature, and then the invisible world of spirit.
What is a totem? Ted Andrews in his book Animal Speak says, “A Totem is any natural object, being or animal to whose phenomena and energy we feel closely associated with during our life.” Ted goes on to further explain, “When we pay attention to and acknowledge a nature totem, we are honoring the essence that lies behind it. We are opening up and attuning to that essence. We then use it to understand our own life circumstances more clearly, We can share in its power or “medicine.” Nature totems –especially animals–are symbols of specific kinds of energy we are manifesting and aligning with in our life. The animal becomes a symbol for a specific force of the invisible, spiritual realm manifesting within our won life. The characteristics and activities of these totems will reveal much about our own innate powers and abilities. By studying the totem and then learning to merge with it, we are able to call upon its archetypal energy whenever needed.”
If you are the kind of person who loves to understand the deeper meanings behind each animal on the planet, you might just love diving into exploring all the knowledge there is behind every single animal totem. A big part of being lead in the right direction of which animal might be connected to you is to pay attention. Are you seeing a lot of spiders everywhere in or around your house? Do birds just come to you all the time? Do you see foxes out on your dusk or dawn walks? Do you hear the call of eagles frequently even if you don’t see them? Pay attention.
As humans, we get so wrapped up in our day to day lives. We tend to make the small stuff, big stuff. Now is the BEST time on the planet to get to know your totem animal. With all this inner reflection during the time of COVID-19, use it to grow! Use it to get more connected to nature and the earth that supports you. Probably the number one message I have written over and over again on this blog is about going inward, do it already! Get some peace and quiet. No noise at all. Maybe even write down a list of traits in your personality that are core to who you are then do some research. The easiest way to quickly find anything about totem animals is to go online. I found Pinterest to have a huge amount of resources regarding animal totems.
Here are two resources that I enjoy (I am not affiliated with either of these resources):
Getting in touch with your inner animals (as I like to call them) really adds so much more to your life. Animals are powerful and can teach us so much. The native cultures from around the globe have been doing this for centuries and it’s not something that is just cute or silly. There is REAL value in discovering deeper levels of who you are.
Once you have picked a few animals to put into your own personal totem, mediate on them, see if they truly do resonate. You can invoke them into your life, you can show them respect, love and peace and ask for symbols or signs. Why not add a little sprinkle of magic to your life when the world seems so dark and dismal on the outside. To help you whether the storm, I highly recommend discovering your own totem animal (spirit animal).
The truth is, the world is only as bleak and dismal as you choose it to be. What’s happening is a great restructuring to the external, so why not maybe restructure some of the internal inside of you? The animals learn to roll with things and there is a lot of wisdom in this. They are adaptable. Learn to be adaptable. This is a survival skill. Our biggest problem is stress from everything. Learn to breath deeply like the birds, and get perspective on what is happening in your life and the greater collective by soaring above it (the bigger picture).
To share a little more about me, here are my totems:
- Hawk
- Snake
- Rabbit
- Turtle
- Fox
- Spider
These totems were discovered by working with a shaman, a spiritual mentor, as well as my own experience and research.
Now, to even take this one step further, in case you really want to own your totems, find jewelry with images or carvings of these animals. There are so many resources online for these kinds of things, but be discerning. You don’t want to buy something that has snake skin or fox fur that is not done with sacred respect and honor to the animal. I only recommend buying jewelry from blessed animals who have already passed from natural causes or by accident. Avoid any company that uses animal products unethically and not spiritually. It is easiest to just stick to silver or gold charms on necklaces, bracelets or rings.

Have fun with this, get Ted’s book, go online, and learn more about the deep connections you have with animals.
I would LOVE it if you shared them on the blog!
Much love to you,
Samantha
